GTA 6 is getting a $400 collector’s set filled with Vice City-themed goodies, but it won’t include a copy of the game.
The merch looks nice but not 400$ nice.
As a collector, it’s essentially over for me. I don’t know how many of us are out there that feel that way, but I used to spend a lot of money on games and now I’m going out of my way to not buy any anymore console games. Switch and their virtual cards can also suck it. If I can’t fire something up in 20 years and it can’t play a game, I might as well stick to PC, right? I spent 30 years building my library and owning my games. I guess being able to lend a game to a friend was costing them too much. The resale of used games were dollar signs that they felt belonged to them. Fuck it all.
They’re rubbing it in now. Just let me buy a physical copy ffs. I lined up at midnight to get my copy of GTA 5 on the PS3.
The copy of GTA 6 you get when have games, unlimited games, but no games.

Can’t wait to pirate this fucking game when a crack comes out. It’s not like anyone can actually own a copy.
It would be wise to run such things in a VM. I would expect Rockstar to post some editions of GTA6 on pirate sites themselves, except with some spyware attached.

Lack of an included game isn’t really the problem here. Since they’re limited runs, it allows customers on any platform to buy the collector stuff separately, instead of one platform’s selling out before the others’. The fact that the merch is absolute garbage for $400 is the real story here.
The game hasn’t even come out yet, and I’m already sick of hearing about it…

I understand the sentiment, but I think paying attention to this stuff is important. Like it or not, they are a huge part of the zeitgeist and they can set trends. This is one I’d like to not see. It’s important this shit is reported on and pushed back against, hard.
Pushed back? By whom? This merch set will sell out and other IP owners are envious their franchises don’t have the same ridiculous traction.
I haven’t seen a single positive comment about this so far even in spaces dedicated for fans of GTA, but I also fully recognize that does not necessarily reflect the majority of consumers.
This reminds me of when the World of Warcraft Collectors Editions stop including CD soundtracks.

TIL that cheap fanny packs can apparently now be called “cross-body packs” in a vain effort to make us forget how uncool they are.
Honestly, I think it would’ve been better if they’d leaned into it as a retro 80s/90s thing and just called it a fanny pack. It’s already hideous, anyway.
Edit for clarification: There are things that I would happily and unironically call a “cross-body pack”. But IMO the picture on that website is of a fanny pack.

And, I cannot stress this enough, doesn’t come with the game. Even though the game doesn’t have a disc version. They couldn’t even include a damn code.
