I’m a big fan of the original, and so my opinion is skewed, but the Netflix show seemed to take all the love and care for the worldbuilding, the thought and time put into the characters, and the intricacy and pacing for the plot… and just throw that shit in a blender, add some thematically antithetical violence and a shit-ton of unnecessary CGI, and crap out a super polished, extra-stinky turd.

Valid arguments. It’s a fun romp. I don’t know how much believability was an objective as much as fantastical entertainment. I agree about the ages, though. Seems like they needed 5+ years of experience, but it didn’t ruin the book for me.
