Unless the EU is feeling incredibly benevolent, I doubt the UK would get the sweetheart deal they got last time. They’re not coming back without taking the Euro and replacing every sign that says mph with km/h.

That kills any hope of the UK rejoining anytime soon.

That wouldnt happen. The UK would keep their currency and road signs lol.

I know you have a raging boner against the UK for leaving, but most of the people voting to rejoin didnt want to leave in the first place. It’s this kind of spite that fucks over humanity in the long run, if the UK wants back in, of course they can come back. It’s already been costly for them and will remain that way. There’s no point causing division.

If the EU starts being recognised as some sort of elite group, then it has failed it’s mission.

I don’t think it’s elitist to ask the UK to adhere to the same rules the other nations abide by.

No, it’s ignorant. They are the second largest economy in Europe, changing their currency is not as simple as it sounds.

They drive on the left, they should not be expected to change that, along with road signs. It’s pointless.

I’d argue that allowing the pound to remain simply because the UK has a large economy is actually the elitist position. That would be giving them an exception to a rule due to their status. The Republic of Ireland drives on the left and is in the EU, from what I can tell there is no EU stipulation on which side of the road cars must travel on.

UK road signs are already EU style, so I just took that as a bit of ignorance.

UK were not the only country to retain their currency, I dont see it as an issue at all if they did again.

It’s just bad faith arguments from people who care more about how they feel inside than welcoming and uniting millions of people, to benefit all. Allowing the UK back into the EU is a bigger middle finger to the far-right that caused the leave, than it is to deny entry.

Sweden did it in “one day”, and that was 60 years ago. You’re telling me that modern Britain can’t handle something Sweden did 60 fucking years ago, with 60 years of technological and societal progress?

Ah yes 60 years ago is totally comparable to today. The infrastructure and number of vehicles is exactly the same! Also Sweden dont use the Euro yet, good example!

I’m pretty sure that the speed limits that are based on human reaction times for safety and traffic jams are roughly the same. Maybe they throughput more cars, but the limits and roads should be roughly the same except for very very special regions.

Unless they invented a few new types of bridge and tunnel since the 60s?

There’s literally just too much to make it worthwhile. The fact Britain is also an island adds that natural barrier, that making people switch sides one crossed, makes more sense. If it wasnt an island, it probably would have been done a long time ago.

I think its just a non-issue. Not worth the time or effort.

If your elitist fantasy is the majority position they might as well stay out.

Nobody will give them the sweet deal they had as that would be political suicide. Either you are all-in or you stay out.

You can now continue to project whatever you like unto everybody including me.

I feel like Britain leaving the EU was the final nail in over 500 years of British foreign policy: Create a disunited Europe.

And now Canada is potentially in as an “associate member”.
