It’s the only reference to a black Jesus that I’m familiar with. I agree that Jesus was probably brown. I assume Huey Freeman was exaggerating to trigger white people.
Aaron McGruder, the creator of Boondocks, went on to later produce another show called Black Jesus a few years ago about the return of Jesus as a Black man in modern America!
That is the only one, I know either. I do believe it might be a reference to a belief by the Nation of Islam.
I mean as a person living in the Levant there’s more of a chance that he had northern african ancestry that white western european ancestry.

any self respecting culture will portray jesus in their own image. he appears white in europe, black in african countries where Christianity didnt come with colonialism (such as Ethiopia), oftentimes asian in asian cultures. its actually a huge red flag if a non-european culture portrays jesus with the white image because it often hints at a white supremacist/colonial influence. china (decolonized) often portrays jesus with local features while korea (colonized) portrays him in a white image.
that is if jesus is portrayed at all, protestants are technically not allowed to portray jesus
If you go to some old churches and cathedrals in europe and you’ll see Jesus was depicted very much like he was a man born in Nazareth.

It’s not that most people who celebrate Jesus as Black actually believe that Jesus, the real man who existed 2,000 years ago, was Black. Some do, but not the majority.
The point is that Jesus is divine and transcends race, and that Black people have the right to worship their God as Black, the same way white people have Europeanized Jesus over the centuries.
Jesus the man may have been a white middle easterner, but Jesus their God is the same race as they.

Jesus? He’s black. In that if Jesus walked the streets of America today, he would be be seen as and live as a black man, and be preaching to largely other poor black folks.
I would think that would be true. His first appearance was in Judea where the Jews were oppressed and marginalized by the Romans. It would only make sense for his second appearance for him to be black as he would find one of the most oppressed and marginalized groups and become one of them and preach to them.
