I’m trying to resolve it but it looks doubtful. My recording of Huey P Newtons autobiography got spammed with hundreds of takedown requests by penguin randomhouse, and youtube won’t even let me in to remove them.

Anyways it’s not a huge deal, youtube was always just a backup for the proper audiobooks in torrent form anyway, which could always use more seeders.

That’s yet another centralized hosting source that could be taken down. Use the torrents linked in the description.

I think PeerTube is about as decentralized as torrents, no? You also have multiple instances (trackers) which provide an original video (webseed) and coordinate P2P sharing to ease the load on the servers.

Peertube unfortunately isn’t decentralized in practice, as has been proven over many years. They wrongly based their decentralization on webtorrents (an alternative network to the massively used classic TCP torrent network), which 99.99% of all torrent seeders don’t use.

EDIT: I just checked, and the size of the classic bittorrent network is about 38-44 million monthly users, while webtorrent has ~13k monthly. So its network size is about 3% of real torrents.

I could, I have about 40 of their playlists downloaded. I had an intuition the channel may get nuked at some point.

VPN isn’t a possibility with me, so I don’t want to risk too much, in the belly of the beast of copyright law. But I appreciate that you make torrent possible for others.

You probably only need a VPN if you’re downloading very popular content like movies (and even then a VPN is < 5 USD a month, cheaper and better than any streaming service). I greatly doubt copyright trolls are targeting smaller audiobook uploaders.

I was on a shoestring budget before and it’s now reduced because of an injury. My provider definitely is aggressive.
