    Not a goth (I browse /all) but, can I play? I love movies.

    If so: Interview With the Vampire, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and Twilight.

    Probably gonna get some hate for that last one. I thought the first Twilight was pretty decent. My vampires were from Interview With the Vampire, so they were already metrosexual and borderline gay (the AMC+ TV show straight up made them gay). So don’t say the Cullens were gay, because there’s respectable precedent, and also, no they aren’t. Also, while Edward Cullen himself is kinda dumb (he sparkles? his skin is hard like diamond? was there more to it?) the idea of the Cullens each having a unique gift was an interesting take. I’m not a big Blade or Crow fan. I like Addams Family but not so much the second one. And Underworld might not be trash, but it was with that dumb blue filter. If they re-released the series with the option to remove that, I might give them a chance.

      Disliking Twilight because it’s “gay” is homophobic. I dislike it because 1) it’s boring, 2) the vampires are lame (sparkles???), and 3) it’s creepy, and not in a good way, in a scary stalker kind of way.

      It’s been a long time since I read Anne Rice, but one of the things that I remember about the vampires is they couldn’t have sex. Of course, you don’t need to have sex to be gay, but the impression I got was that vampires were so beyond human that they were also beyond our conventional ideas of sexuality, too. Also, vampires don’t have many choices with who they get to hang out with for hundreds of years, and of course you’re going to feel a close bond with the vampire who turned you, so…yeah, if they aren’t gay, they’re at least queer. Probably pan-sexual would be more accurate. But it’s only emotional, because, again, vampires can’t have sex. But, hey, they can drink blood, and the way blood-drinking is described it sounds better than sex, so there’s that.

      Of course. Generally goths just tend to look scarry. The reality is often different. 😋 And while I will always be team blade. Twilight wasn’t written for me. Everyone enjoys different things. And plenty of the things I really enjoy wouldn’t resonate with others. It’s all good.
