Have a great week, everyone! Try to break up your bigger goals into smaller ones, this makes intimidating work more achievable.

    As always, communism will win.

The DNC is freaking out because they never expected that people would actually vote for socialists in their party.

Oh I see. Looks especially absurd. The gist of the article seems to be that dems are trying to shoot the messenger. From the look of it, somewhat-leftist Hasan is telling them “hey maybe you shouldn’t be such staunch zionists, that might go badly for you” and they’re like “gasp how dare you insinuate that being a rabid zionist could lead to anything but peace and prosperity!” Instead of going “hmm maybe he has a point, there are a lot of people who are pissed off at zionists for committing genocide on an actively ongoing basis, or, if they are geographically distant from it, offering ideological support to zionism and the israel colonization/occupation project”.

Lol. Hasan is the Democratic Party’s most loyal footsoldier. He has done more to help Democrats get elected than any DNC stooge. And this is not a compliment to Hasan, quite the opposite. Hasan keeps shilling for people who hate his guts and will never change, like an abused spouse deluding themselves that they can change their abusive partner. Just leave!

To be fair, the Democratic party is not a party in the sense of the ‘normal’ European party democracies. The American duopoly is quite a bit different to most other “liberal democracies”. Standing as a Democrat requires running in the Primary system, not a party membership or attendance of conferences or whatever. Dem/Rep are more like wrappers over a formal two-party system like the Communist Party is the wrapper of a socialist one-party democracy.

Minor parties fulfil a similar role in the US as they do in something like China, they have low to no access to the levers of power and never will, and are only allowed in so far as they serve no real threat to the duopoly/single party democracy.

I’ve heard that excuse before and i still don’t buy it. The duopoly won’t go away unless people stop voting for it. Leftists in the US need to let the Democratic party die.

Yeah it’s bullshit. People organized independent communits parties where it was illegal to do so. Americans have no excuse, even British Trots have their own parties now.

It may be a bit obvious from some of my recent comments but I think I may be warming up to Hasan

At least he’s not disappointing me like the Anfal genocide apologist Hakim and Bad “faked being native Argentinian on Reddit for five years before revealing he’s actually an Australian expat” Empanada.

Idk, I may still be in my “jaded” arc, give me time.

Have been vegan for some years now. Before that I was vegetarian for years as well. I have been so far removed from meat that I never think about it.

Saw a truck full of pigs headed to the slaughterhouse today and it filled me with rage. Like I legit got triggered by the unexpected sight. Wanted to burn the truck down and save them, but that was impossible sadly. We need to do better.

I have very little hope of meaningful improvements here under capitalism, except for maybe incidental material forces that happen to drive the market to evolve. At least in the US. It’s already a [worthwhile] struggle to organize people around their own class interests let alone empathy for anyone else.

It’s astounding that there’s really no limit as to what can be normalized.

Meta has reached some new lows it seems. They have an AI working to detect and ban scam accounts. If you get a new number and send out some messages to different people, you might just get banned from WhatsApp.

I got a new number. I moved back to The Netherlands. I send some people a message with my new info. I got banned by the AI for 6 hours.

This alone would not bother me. But you literally cannot appeal the ban. You can, but nobody sees it. It is all AI regulated. And the AI gets triggered by the most random shit. Your account might get permabanned forever with no way to way to retrieve your account and nobody to appeal to. Literally nobody working at that department at Meta.

Signal isn’t a realistic option. Out of the hundreds of WhatsApp contacts I have, twelve have Signal. Just have to walk on egg shells now, I guess. Or face being cutoff from the social media virtually everyone here uses to communicate.

What would be news like in a Communism world? time to speculate a bit.

Like, there wouldn’t be any wars or class struggle but there still would exist contradictions. Maybe “construction of new solar arrays in [place] causes discussions in Afghanistan” or “Linux OS updates break backwards compatibility. Old-timers create waves of propaganda against updates.”

Maybe also celebration of old achievements, like “XXXth Aniversary of Turtle Island liberation”, “new library in [rural city] dedicated in the name of deceased comrade educators” etc.

I dunno if there would be any global news. I assume that most contradictions would happen in a local scale; discussed and solved in cadres.

True. I also think bulletin boards, forums and mailing lists would be more popular at a municipal level or for more niche subjects to fill the gap where it’s not interesting for the general population. For example, maybe you could look into the city’s local lemmy server (lol) to look for tabletop gaming groups, or subscribe to your friend’s mailing list if he discovers any interesting hobby projects (like, someone reverse-engineers MS-DOS). Advertising would still happen, but it would be voluntary.

I admit I have no clue about defences for earthquakes (which seems to be the most frequent natural disaster i see on the news) but don’t we have ways to build more stable foundations? I was under the impression most damage is done because people are living in low quality housing

Yes, earthquake damage can be minimized but it cannot be prevented.

Also, there are other types of disasters that are really, really hard to truly prepare for, like a solar storm or a random flood. Even with zero deaths or injuries, there would still be a lot of property and ecological damage.

To add what you said, I guess there would also be announcements on how much of wages would be dedicated to global projects if there was a Worker’s Party of the World. Like “after much deliberation and voting, on this 5 year plan, 0.002% of your monthly labor-hours will be used for the construction of a Lunar base.”

been a hell of a couple months, got the EOB from my insurance for the several hospital visits, ER and otherwise, along with imaging and all that. According to what they sent me I’m going to owe about $50k in bills after what they’ve already paid and refuse to pay. We also had to put our 16 year old doggie down after he had a 3rd stroke and could no longer stand or do much of anything without our constant help. He had a great couple of last days, we took him to his favorite old park he hadn’t been to in years, he ate ice cream and cake and McDonald’s and beef jerky. We spent every moment we could with him before we took him to the vet. Now we have a new little holy terror puppy in the house.

The saying goes, “100 years in the West, 100 years in the East”. Each region of Earth enjoys their own period of prosperity before taking turns rising and falling. Romans thought their empire would last forever. It did not. We are living in a special era where Western countries are declining in power, and Eastern countries are rising in power. Nothing lasts forever. Change is the only constant. Asian diaspora are waking up and returning back to China with their talents, causing a reverse brain-drain. Welcome to the Asian Century. The world will turn from unipolar to multipolar. In the future, we will no longer be at the mercy of America’s imperialism, and suffer from their tyranny. Countries will seek connections with China, a better alternative that does not bully, pillage, violate them.
