I think Ned was Peter’s best friend a lot more than MJ was his girlfriend. Not even just talking about how long they knew him either; I think it hurt Peter more to not have Ned than to not have MJ.

Romance is nice but friendship is often underrated. I think you can function a lot longer without romance than you can without friendship.
