Players can customize graphics settings, including up to 4x resolution upscaling, VSync support, Fullscreen and Windowed display modes, anisotropic filtering, enhanced anti-aliasing, and more. These games also include customizable language and audio settings.

Based on the language of this being an early release, I’m assuming there are more titles in the works.

$10 a piece also seems like a reasonable price, I’d probably pirate them anyway but for paying customers that seems good.

yet another useful phrase being completely robbed of meaning
this isn’t backwards compatibility, it’s re-releasing old games, the same shit nintendo has been doing forever

backward compatibility is when existing copies of old games work on new hardware, these are just ports of old xbox games to pc

Not trying to be whatever here, but backwards compatibility actually would mean I could take my old Xbox and 360 games, put them in my PC’s DVD/Blu-Ray player, and they’d load/play without issue.

This is actually just MS reselling old games it sounds like. Unless I missed the part where I can put in my old Halo 1, 2, 3 discs and they’ll run on my modern PC. If that’s actually the case then I will give MS a solid “good job” otherwise it’s a bit “Well… thanks?”

Yeah I thought it was being able to use the old media until saw the $10 per game part. Just sounds like they did some remaster and are selling them again.

Which if gets us more crimson skies games would be amazing but doubt that would happen

        Decompilations/recompilations are increasingly making this a non-issue.

We recently got a decomp of DoDonpachi Saiaidoujou for 360, that’s the level of niche we’re at right now.

This was a few years ago so it’s not the situation now, but at one point there were only two original Xbox emulators. One ran a few popular games flawlessly, but had 0 audio. The other had audio, but games had slowdowns and generally ran poor. I always wondered why they don’t just steal each others ideas or, you know, work together instead of creating two competing pieces of software that do the same thing but are both equally terrible in their own unique way.

CXBX-Reloaded and Xemu also use different ISO formats so I hope you like converting them back and forth or keeping two sets of beefy DVD images on hand. Because of that I mainly just stick to XEMU since that seems to work better. I boot XEMU a few times a year, let it update and check if Dead or Alive 2/3 still turn into slideshows on half the stages. The answer is always yes. Then I hop into Xenia and try to run Deadly Premonition and the game’s textures are still broken however many years in. Come onnnnnnnnnn

That said I did successfully complete Gears of War 2, 3, and Judgment on Xenia and only GoW 3 was severely hampered by emulation issues. Even then, they weren’t graphical issues or crashes, just the game’s scripting breaking completely under emulation, softlocking you constantly. Sadly the user experience is very spartan when you’re used to the slick UIs of most modern emulators. Again, not the devs fault as I understand there are only a few people plugging away at Xbox and Xbox 360 emulation where other consoles have much, much bigger scenes

Swery well and truly shat the bed with the sequel whose dialogue and cutscenes are often physically painful to sit through and ALL OVER the fucking place with its messaging. One moment York is lecturing the audience about how we should respect and celebrate diversity, then something horribly racist or transphobic happens. How the character of Thomas is handled in the first game mostly comes off as dated. He’s portrayed in a much more sympathetic light than like, Albert Ashford from RE:CV or whatever which helps

                  also just twin peaks

Swery explaining how DP1 isn’t just overtly ripping off Twin Peaks and is a totally original creation whose similarities to it are purely coincidental: morshupls

This is true, for e.g. the 360 version of Deadly Premonition is still busted (both rendering and game progress) in Xenia and has been since 2021. Using Microsoft shit won’t help you with that however, since their official selection is so limited. You can’t play Otogi or Jet Set Radio Future on MS consoles…

Microsoft is perhaps the most complicit tech company in Israel’s illegal apartheid regime and ongoing genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza. Microsoft’s complicity in Israel’s apartheid and genocide is well documented, exposing its strong ties to the Israeli military, its collaboration with Israeli government ministries, and its involvement in the Israeli prison system, which is notorious for systematic torture and abuse of Palestinians. Microsoft knowingly provides Israel with technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), that is deployed to facilitate grave human rights violations, war crimes, crimes against humanity (including apartheid), as well as genocide. In light of the International Court of Justice’s legally-binding rulings to prevent Israel’s plausible genocide in Gaza, as well as its July 19 Advisory Opinion affirming Israel’s illegal occupation and apartheid system, Microsoft has failed its corporate obligation to prevent genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. Microsoft, as well as its boards of directors and executives, may face criminal liability for this complicity.

Microsoft provides the Israeli military with Azure cloud and AI services that are crucial in empowering and accelerating Israel’s genocidal war on 2.3 million Palestinians in the illegally occupied Gaza Strip. Microsoft’s extensive ties with Israel’s military are revealed in investigations by The Guardian with the Israeli-Palestinian publication +972 Magazine, demonstrating how the Israeli military turned to Microsoft to meet the technological demands of genocide.

Yes, Microsoft is the subject of boycott due to enabling & supporting the genocide in Gaza, primarily. Them and Amazon both have the sort of role in that that IBM did in the third reich, shall we say.

My opinion is that the boycott is in most cases the least anyone in the imperial core can do for the people of Palestine, literally just not put money in the pockets of corps with involvement in a genocide…

        however

I know scolding people isn’t super productive but it bugs me constantly seeing people give money to M$. Shit company anyway, haven’t used any of their stuff in years.

Reminds me I should see if they were able to finally resolve the issues mech assault 2 had

Well yes fixed the issue of it crashing on launch but it still runs too rough to really play.

Also, the wording is kinda’ ambiguous but isn’t this cloud streaming?

Edit: might be native on console + PC + cloud streaming. The hardware specs seem insanely high on PC if it’s just cloud streaming.

Cool, I guess. Aside from Microsoft being bad official projects like this are subject to the same copyright and license shenanigans any regular game release is. Hope the game you want to play isn’t in legal limbo or that the modern IP holders are willing to play ball.

With emulators you can just grab the rom and play it. Or you could if Xbox emulation wasn’t so fucking bad sicko-wistful

Compatibility lists for CXBX-R and XQEMU respectively.

Big games like Jet Set Radio Future and Panzer Dragoon Orta are playable. Wreckless, Gunvalkyrie, Group S Challenge and Otogi are “ingame” status. Needing a Xbox HDD image is annoying but both emulators work, albeit they require different game formats.

fusion frenzy was fun for a minute… had more fun with the demo of that with friends than the actual game once it came out.

    dunno bout the other ones
