The time has come to replace our mattress… it’s had quite the journey. Does anyone have any recs? Are box mattresses still all the rage? Considering going to Sleeping Duck for a looksee.

I have a foam box mattress, can’t remember which brand but it’s about 6y old and I find it comfortable. Have previously had sprung mattresses and I find the foam just as comfortable. (Disclaimer- I don’t have back issues so I didn’t have any specific needs). One thing to note, it was a bit smelly initially as the foam degassed, so maybe plan to set it up on a day you can leave the windows open all day so it can air out.

I got a koala then got a topper for it cos my hips still hurt. I should’ve bought the better mattress with the built in topper. I got the 2nd cheapest of the four koala options. FWIW I am now happy with it. I bought new sheets too, I’ve got a voucher for $40 off canningvale I’m not planning to use if you want it. I got their sereno linen/cotton blend.

I don’t know if they’re still a company or what, but I have a bed frame and mattress (and couch) from Koala. Has lasted a solid 5ish years now.

Bed frame has no bolts or screws, it just pieces together, and the mattress is still lovely to sleep on.

Disclaimer: I did spend a few years before getting the bed frame and mattress on a rotation of airbeds and swags, so take my recc with a grain of salt lol

Work is quiet this week (can’t do a bunch of things while EOFY stuff happens on the system) so the offer went out to take leave if we want this week. Now I have another weekend starting now 😃

It’s funny. We’re insanely busy because EOFY and need to get stuff done by tomorrow.

Then with the new budgets and stuff becoming available later in the week, we’ll be busy for different reasons.

I have mostly forgotten what ‘quiet this week’ looks like. Maybe Christmas time? But I always take leave then.

This is definitely the eye of the storm. The only work we can do is like… the first few steps of some processes, then add the semi-done stuff to an ever growing list of things that need to be done after. So work is piling up for sure, but it waits til next week!

Oooh looks like we have a BAN HAMMER.

In more exciting news I dreamt of rocks from the beach. Really need to finish the rocks for the studio thing or I’ll never have a sex or falling to my death dream ever again.

Cold, wet and windy weather has resumed. I got the mowing finished just in time.

The lawn is looking very green and vibrant now which is nice, but there are still a few empty gaps that need filling in. I seem to have managed to keep most of the weeds out, but Spring is going to be the big test of that. The font yard is not quite as good, I think they planted the wrong type of grass for that location. It really struggled with summer, as it is in full sun and has window reflections and a lot of surrounding concrete to deal with.

Mine has been dozing a bit, I really needed to mow it weeks ago and kept putting it off. I should have a few months to ignore it again, which will be nice. It will give me a chance to do the weeding and tidying in the garden beds before spring.

I need to start thinking about planting some early seeds for tomatoes and things indoors soon too - I have a tendency to leave it a bit late, I’d like to try and get the timing right for once this year! If all goes to plan I’ll probably end up with a thriving garden just in time for me to move out and the next tenant to get most of the harvest!

oh ffs, more unasked for unwanted invasive AI stuff popped up

now to search for it and remove

pretty sure if I worked at NOAA or gchq and other places where I would need to crunch tons of data and use modelling it would be really helpful, but I don’t need it when I am doing home banking or watching lotr videos

done, had to sift thru settings , again

and it’s just disabled, not removed/uninstalled,
