The vehicle information-screen tells me to use the HondaLink phone app to disable data sharing. The HondaLink Android app tells me to use the vehicle’s information-screen’s onboard settings in order to disable data sharing. #whichIsIt #enshittification #dataParasitism

I was able to disable data collection by first using the app to remove a specific service to which they subscribed me and for which I was not yet supposed to be charged but, oh well.
Meanwhile I got the notice today from Honda America Finance that the data-theft subscription service was “Expiring” and they billed me by tacking some undisclosed fee to my loan balance two days ago.
that’s such an abomination. i hope you find a practical solution.
what’s not practical is:
Unplugging the car’s antennas is free.
as if their documentation/staff would even tell a truthful number of antennas in the vehicle…
sure maybe the first and second ones might not be difficult. after that, if someone wanna remove and separately inspect every single component of the vehicle, more power to you (read: good f***in’ luck)
Ugh. What year car is that? (Or… how old a Honda do I need to buy to avoid this nonsense?)
This is a 2026 CR-V Hybrid. I was able to disable data collection by first using the app to remove a specific service to which they subscribed me and for which I was not yet supposed to be charged but, oh well.

It’s not if it fucks your overall warranty or voids other services (afaik BMW just amended their tos with something like that).
