I’ve been studying a lot on Home Inspection for my state lately and just need to kick back and watch something STUPID. I’ve also been reading theory again for the first time in a while as well as getting into boxing for the umpteenth time. And that’s not even getting into my whole work situation. So yea, needless to say I need some recommendations on dumb TV to watch and enjoy mindlessly. Lately I’ve been watching Old Simpsons, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Workaholics, Three Stooges and Whitest Kids U Know.

Always Sunny is a generational TV show, the early seasons were a lot more satirical, covering heavy topics, middle seasons did it less so but were more funny, and the later seasons, somehow managed to continue the satirical elements while still being funny, which is pretty tough for a long-running sit-com. Someday I prob will watch Desperate Housewives just bc I have good memories of my Mom watching it while I pretended to sleep on the couch (I just wanted to see Eva Longoria lol)

Smiling Friends is hands down one of my favourite shows of all time. Like i cannot fathom how someone managed to make something this funny. Maybe my sense of humour’s cooked tho, who knows.

The Black Adder is - i liked all three seasons a lot.

Swiss Army Man is a really wholesome film and i like it, even tho it’s one big fart joke.

I haven’t watched the other 2 but I was (and to an extent still am) a big fan of Smiling Friends. I love the realistic dialogue and awkward moments, especially the Shmaloogles episode where the King of the Shmaloogles makes a pretty heinous accusation about Charlie. The Glep Ep is also prob one of my favorites

Omg it’s my time! I am a piece of shit slop enjoyer. Here’s my quick favorites list of shit as I look down my Emby library of all the shit I have torrented. Granted, I have a TON more shows I love on here but these are some of the more “I want to just numb myself.”

    • Parks and Recreation: is amazing if you can handle awkward humor.
    • The Office: is a step higher on the awkward humor. I am building up to it using Parks and Rec because I have trouble with like, second hand embarrassment with shows like these. So far I am in love with Parks and Rec even if I have to cover my face sometimes.
    • Adventure Time: 10/10 dumb slop. Watch this.
    • Star Trek Lower Decks: is an amazing animated comedy in Star Trek universe. If you have seen the Treks it’s even better.
    • What We Do in the Shadows is amazing. Watch it.
    • Centaur World: Absolutely amazing. 2 seasons and like, the story goes from “this stupid shit is going to melt my brain” to “holy what the fuck this is heavy.”
    • Doom Patrol: Pretty good. Kinda weird. I really liked it. Interesting take on mental illnesses.- Good Omens: Watch this.
    • Rick and Morty: Truly mind rotting but it’s high on my list of rewatch ability and mindless entertainment.
    • *Futurama: Why are you not watching it right now? Just go watch it.
    • All of the Star Treks (Exclude anything made after DS9/Voyager, and the movies.): I am a huge nerd.
    • The Venture Bros: Is good.
    • The Orville: When you run out of Star Trek but want more Star Trek but also it’s written by Seth MacFarlane. Succeeds in spite of him and is like, the one redeemable thing about him.

Oh geez, I have too many of these in common lol. 1.) Parks and Rec, I was a huge fan of it in like 2021 and haven’t watched it since, I still have good memories of the show tho, it kinda reminds me of Community or 30 Rock in the snappy quick jokes kind of dialogue. 2.) The Office, I loved it until the got rid of Michael, basic B opinion admittedly but I still like a few later eps. 3.) Adventure Time. I ADORED that show as a kid and started to slowly grow away from it as it became more romance oriented and the story got deeper. I liked when it was stupid stuff like NEPTR or the imagination episode. I’d give it another shot tho. 4.) Rick and Morty/Futurama, both of these shows have some smart jokes every now and then and are centered around scientific-fantasy. Both make for comedy and I really love them both. My oldest brother introduced me to both of them and I quote both shows quite often in different contexts. I wouldn’t usually compare the two, but I really appreciate both the shows in similar ways now that I think about it

I’ll be sure to check it out, it sounds fun, worst case scenario if it isn’t streaming…🏴‍☠️😂If you’re into English comedy at all, I highly suggest “people just do nothing” I would call it a mix of British version of The Office with Trailer Park Boys, very fun show if you have access to it

My Dad, who adores Martin Short and Steve Martin, actually came around on Selena Gomez because of this show. He’s the average old guy who views all Pop artists as “trash” but he actually really liked her on this show. I may give it a chance someday soon

Just finished watching all seasons of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. Must say, some of the gags didn’t age well, but still good writing for the most part. Binging Robot Chicken is worth your time.

I agree, I’m a HUGE fan of sketch comedy, as is my brother, we came up with like top 10 sketch comedies and I don’t think Monty Python was mentioned. Great sketch comedy obviously, and very influential, but so many of the bits are supposed to be funny bc of how long it’s drawn on, maybe it’s just my Gen Z attention span or something, but I can’t appreciate it as much as “That Mitchell and Webb Look”, for example. And again, I’m sure it was heavily influenced by Monty Python.

Kind of a throwback but Onion News Network was so funny. Bullshit that it was cancelled so soon. I wish AMC would reboot it.

A bunch of (if not the whole series) is free on YT and I check it every now and then. Great satire in that show, but I wouldn’t expect any less from The Onion
