What would releasing the epstein files even do?

[Trigger warning ⚠️ from here on out]

The average person is completely alienated from any lever of power, plus 30% of Americans are so committed to trumpism, that if Don kicked down their doors and fucked their dog in front of them, they’d cheer or join in. Antisocial belligerence is their ideology.

Releasing the epstein files wouldn’t do anything to deter MAGA or the fascist movements in the west.

On the other side of things, you have the ruling class, who treats pedophilia and CSA as a rite of passage to enter their networks and friend groups. Releasing the epstein files wouldn’t change the power structures that enable the industrial scale sexual abuse committed by the bourgeoisie.

At best, it would lay bare for most people how the capitalist system is just a convoluted way for the ruling class to fuck children, but most people would just shrug and go on about their day or try to justify it to earn their share of the cake.

There are no competing powers with material incentive to end, or even change the current system. What would releasing the files do? Oh, your favorite mayor/president/CEO/Academic professor/actor is actually a pedophileremoved? Why care? They ALL are. It’s how you climb to the top ranks of influence in our system.

I just don’t buy the idea that Israel holds any blackmail against trump, as if Trump would actually be a pretty good guy if only, gasp Israel didn’t blackmail him into invading Iran, as if that hasn’t been the plan since the 60s.

Motherfucker, the US and Israel is the exact same entity. They have the same incentives, same material interests, same goals and even share the same pool of citizenry. Netanyahu is from fucking philadelphia or something.

What would releasing the epstein files change?

“Release the Epstein files” is pure hopium at this point. They’re not talking about the actual files (there’s enough damning stuff in what’s been released already), they’re talking about the same spontaneous vibe shift people want to believe into being like when people talk about doing a General Strike. They want “the thing that will fix this” to happen.

They just need to get over their aversion to disrputive action. No, it’s not “what they want.” They want compliance and if you give it to them without a struggle, that’s imposing their will just as effectively. You’re not “just as bad as them” unless you intend to do the same things with power as they are.

It’s the next thing libs want that they think will defeat Trump but without them doing anything. Just like the Mueller Report or many other stuff. Insert that /leftypol/ post about why libs like Harry Potter.

In itself it wouldn’t do anything, or lead to any consequences for the people on the list, but it would push the needle further towards anti-billionaire sentiment.

I agree with this take. Billionaires are becoming associated with “CSAM obsessed mega freaks with too much money”, a big shift from ten years ago when billionaire = good and smart person who will solve everything.

it would be just like the end of Tommy Boy or Firefly or any number of other liberal fantasies where all you have to do is broadcast the bad guy saying something evil. then the cops show up and arrest him and the system fixes itself!

What would releasing the epstein files change?

    Nothing.

Some powerless people would be upset a bit more, there would (possibly) some staged political outrage and then the show moves on. We live in a frozen society, the powers that be will always be and the powerless will always be powerless, the window of opportunity to make changes simply closed in the early 00s.

Counterpoint: historical processes are unstoppably moving in a dialectical fashion

      cool-dad

But I agree that any more Epstein info would have consequences above what we’ve already seen.
