It’s a little out of left field if it is Shiryu or some sort of family though, I feel like Shiryu isn’t important enough for it lol
Holy shit what if the guy sitting there was the admiral that Rocks killed in his flashback? If he were to be a marine he would have to be the level of admiral since only they answer to the CDs directly.
Though the simpler answer is that he’s a holy knight whose design looks similar to Shiryu (considering Shiryu doesn’t seem to show any celestial dragon heritage to be working in Impel Down).
It could actually be an admiral since God’s Knights don’t have a reason to directly attack a nation with the navy. We didn’t see any God’s Knights accompany Saturn to Egghead
I’m really thinking he is an admiral because if he is a piece of shit here then it can be some retroactive comeuppance knowing he gets rocked by rocks later. But he very well could not be.

Brook not even taking a second to question Leuven going to war with the world government mirrors his role in the crew. He’s very much a ride or die teammate.
I thin Candelle could be a refugee celestial dragon like Doflamingo’s parents who decided to stay in Esperia and betray the holy knights. At the very least Shuri is part celestial dragon since she gets a family name and is treated as an equal heritage-wise.
The paneling on this chapter was really clean, especially the cliffhanger. I don’t know why the bird gorosei was silhouetted though so that might get explained later.
I like that Candelle theory. Imu seems like they only care about characters if they have some sort of relevance to the void century parallels (Luffy/Joyboy, Loki/Niddhoggr, Vivi/Lili) so Shuri having that relation would make more sense than Imu thinking she’s a skilled fighter
