Nah, can we not
Here’s the same AFP article but syndicated via CTV News. Fuck CBS.
The new British bread will be going to mass market in the following weeks. /s
You know what always comes next!

The Unbread!
Zomboy? We doing brostep again?
Remember when they dug up a frozen ice age era bison and one of the discoverers literally made stew with some of the meat? I think id much rather eat that stew than human corpse stomach bread lol
And this is how it always begins…
Very small
Muahahahahaha
Not beer?
When asked if the scientists were considering using the yeast to brew beer, he responded: “It’s on the list.”
Many yeasts do not make alcohol well. It can be quite variable, but bread yeast is especially bad, as it has been selected to produce a lot of co2.
Of course our society looks down on alcohol officially at least now, so maybe the strain of yeast had nothing to do with it.
Mummy in question is 5300 years old, so not sure how specialized yeast was back then
Just naturally it’s very variable. Which is why before they really started cultivating strains, fairly recently, there was a big emphasis on the region and year of the wines, because they relied on wild yeasts. Sometimes from their feet that they used to crush the grapes.
But the egyptians were pretty advanced in a lot of things. They made both bread and beer. I bet they had their own strains and the practice was just lost in the dark ages.
