There is not really an effective vaccine, except for some help with infant dissemination in infants. We controlled TB through public health measures and antibiotics. Multi-drug resistant TB is and likely will become a big problem. Source: 13 years in TB vaccine research.

TB is effectively cured, however it still kills more than any other disease. It requires months of antibiotics and interrupting the treatment can result in resistant strains showing up.
