I work with a lot of blue collar guys who voted for Trump in 2024. The most common trend I’ve noticed in the last month or so is that they “don’t want to talk politics” the disillusionment is spreading.

Until it directly affects them personally. When their little Jimmy gets blown to smithereens by an Iranian missile or drone, then they change their tune.

Trump was isolationist and did not start any wars in his first term, and campaigned on isolationism not starting wars in his second term. It was actually quite reasonable, even for non-MAGA people, to expect Trump to not start any wars in his second term.

Though I guess the Iran war is ultimately a result of Trump being a mentally declining 78-year-old, losing his grip and impulse control. But going from that to concluding Trump would start a war with Iran was non-trivial.

Isolationism isn’t nonintervention. Anyone who thinks maga wasn’t going to keep us balls deep in the middle is was just straight up high. I know what he said, what maga people say. You have to realize they are gullible at best but usually more often they’re just lying

In his first term, Trump had made a (horrible) deal with the Taliban to get out of Afghanistan, and Trump had shamefully abandoned the US’s Kurdish allies in Syria. A reasonable person would think that Trump was pretty committed to reduce US involvement in the Middle East.

So many of Trump’s “promises” were transparently false. Trump not going to war with Iran actually seemed pretty credible, at the time.

Maybe, if you didn’t already see a psychopath who would do anything to stay out of jail?

I dunno. My Trump derangement set in early, you could say before it was even Trump Derangement Syndrome. It’s hard not to blame people for romanticizing the various Ted Bundies who run our country

The problem is, these unsatisfied voters only make up about 10% of Trumps base. The rest still worship the pedo in chief.

We can’t just hope for the next election to be different.

The Republicans I know are defending the war and calling all the pedophilia evidence fake, they are mad about … gas prices. You can’t make that shit up.

At least he’s bombing brown people amiright? I agree though, racism closer to home hits different. Bring our boys home so they can get back to harassing people in our own streets!

It was fairly explicitly said that Trump’s staff was trying to distract Trump from invading Greenland. It seems an obvious guess that the distraction offered was Venezuela and Iran.

Trump invading Greenland could have meant war with the EU. So in a quite literal sense, Trump is now bombing brown Iranians instead of white Europeans.
