Nvidia claims to have developed AGI, not that anyone should care. The real question is: How long until AI achieves CHIM?
Do we even know what intelligence is? Until we can answer that, I don’t know if we can achieve it.
Do we really need a rigorous definition? Have you seen what qualifies as "intelligence’’ nowadays?
The first computers were truly smart. They could perform large amounts of calculations before a human could even react. Now, those genius supercomputers of yesteryear are called “outdated”, “slow” and even “my phone that fits in my pocket has thousands of times its RAM and processing power”.
Today, programs that recognize faces (poorly) or create “art” (very poorly) are worshipped as artificial “intelligence”.
Considering this is “Shitty Ask Lemmy,” I’d say we do, except a bad one.
Something like “capable of tying one’s shoes, though not necessarily particularly well.”
