I don’t like that they used them in the first place, but I’m glad to see this move. They certainly have the money.

Damage is done from my perspective. I won’t buy a game where they think they can use AI in place of people. Or that they can “fix it in post.”

They don’t seem to have gone about it in a bad way, but it still further opens the door to more icky practices.

No-one else, or at least as high profile, was doing AI voicework in their games. Embark were essentially the first with The Finals.
One successful game/studio doing it opens the door for other studios to start doing it.

In a vacuum, in this instance, I’m mostly inclined to agree.
It normalising the practice is what I dislike.

Doing pure ai voicework yea sure but paying them to do ts is still much better than just straight replacing them and i honestly dont see much difference to the female tiktok tts voice that was on every other video

i mean, yea sure. but you could say that of any game that has like updated content.

the ai voices, even though the voice actors were paid for explicitly training an ai, and to allow on the fly changes and extensive callouts, were a point of contention with a sizeable part of the comunity, so this seems like a good thing all around to me. the voice actors get work, the voice lines they replace stop having that ai inflection. a win win.

I don’t understand how having situational voicelines, with transparency and the voice actors’ affirmative consent, would make the game “unfinished”.
