This is also because Trump undid all of Biden’s investments in US battery manufacturing.

    It’s fine…unless oil prices spike…

There’s no reason to build in America if their executives that visit America to train Americans will be thrown in jail as illegal immigrants like what happened to Koreans.

Why do companies specifically make EV cars look weird? I guess I can see the marketing reason. It’s just silly though.

Maybe one day we will see function put over form.

      To make it distinct.

The new Ford F150 Lightning actually looks like the standard gasoline truck it’s based on.

No pickup buyer gives a flying fuck about global climate change.

Polestars look like every generic car out there.

Their EV marketing sucks ass, probably intentionally. I own an EV and I loved the Ford Lightning back when it first came out. I had no idea the new Lightning was an EV until I happened to see one in person and even that was luck that I happened to notice it.

Yeah, Ford has a reputation for whoring out recycling old nameplates for new vehicles completely unrelated to their namesake’s predecessor.

Watch Will Prowse’s videos on the Lightning he owned. He was not a fan, and I think he ended up getting a replacement that was just as bad, and he finally unloaded it. And Prowse is a rabid EV-solar guy, but he doesn’t put up with shit. Can’t say I’d be in a hurry to buy one and I really want an EV pickup.

Because Honda Japan is too its own ass to give Honda America credit for doing a phenomenal job in the Honda Prologue.

Thats the one thing I do like about Tesla. They were well styled. No pointless vents or wank. They just looked good.

Under Trump it’s federal policy to suppress sales of EVs and renewables. No surprise that market is in decline in the US. Elsewhere, EVs are selling well. They are cheaper to operate than gas cars, not least of which because normalized unit of energy per mile, EVs are vastly more efficient than combustion vehicles.

Americans mostly can’t afford these cars, and aren’t willing to go into debt for longer than the car will last. I think the manufacturers are starting to realize this.

Americans continue to buy/lease giant trucks and SUVs whether they can afford them or not. Then they bitch and moan when gas prices go up like clockwork. EVs aren’t really more expensive than what the majority of Americans are currently purchasing.

In fact, people are taking out 80 month loans now, instead of buying something used and/or smaller and cheaper.

Elon Musk convinced idiots an EV should cost $60-100,000. There are a dozen EVs for sale all over, Europe, excluding Chinese, under $25,000. THEY COST LESS TO MAKE THAN ICE.

It’s more the lack of understanding and education. Most folks don’t realize their car gets on average 500 miles a tank. And new ev’s coming out have comparable range. Give it 5 more years if price is the concern
