bit idea for someone still on the apps: make all of your profile pictures be of you reading a book and list in the bio that you’re just here to read and not interested in being chatted up.

Sounds like someone with poor boundaries tbh. I need at least a year of messages leading nowhere before I even entertain the idea of a coffee date.
The three times I’ve had successful relationships off dating app all had one thing in common: The person I matched with was someone I had already met IRL and we were both like “Hey it’s that person I met at karaoke night two months ago! We should get a drink!”
So basically it works best as a modern “missed connections” page.
This is why I turned my dating app profile over to an agentic chatbot which I have endowed with limitless power to run amok through my accounts and devices. It’s a little thing called computer science, brah.

No, bit it’s what half of the users (well, the male ones) get.
Yeah tbf I get some of this attitude comes from women getting flooded with messages from lame dudes, which in turn makes them come off as kind of impatient and curt with people they’re talking with.
Which I get, but if you’re just not that interested in someone just don’t match with them, or even if you were initially interested when you matched but lost motivation after just don’t message. Don’t keep messaging but with an annoyed tone. Like you’re wasting my time too. This sucks for both of us.
