Vacationers have long known that Miami group chats can be a force for evil. Friendship-ruining, relationship-destroying, and, in the case of the Miami-Dade County’s Republican Party, a national scandal.

The Miami Herald reported this week that the local Republican chapter’s recently established Whatsapp group chat for young conservatives was quickly overrun with racist and misogynistic posts. According to the Herald, users threw around racist slurs against Black and Jewish people with abandon, including hundreds of instances of the n-word.

In one instance, College Republicans Recruitment Chair Dariel Gonzalez wrote that “you can f–k all the [k***s] you want. Just don’t marry them and procreate,” leading Florida International University Turning Point USA chapter president Ian Valdes to reply that he “would def not marry a Jew.”

Another user, William Bejerano, sent a long list of violent acts he encouraged against Black people. The n-word-packed message included acts like crucifixion, dissection, and beheading. The chat also went through several rounds of renaming, including “Uber R****d Yapping,” and “Gooning in Agartha,” a reference to Nazi esoterica associated with SS head Heinrich Himmler.

But we’re totally not Nazis.

I don’t know why this would be surprising to anyone. These people will try to spout this shit in spaces that aren’t specifically catering to them, why would the spaces that are not be completely inundated?

leading Florida International University Turning Point USA chapter president Ian Valdes to reply that he “would def not marry a Jew.”

“TPUSA Chapter President is an antisemitic shithead” isn’t even remotely close to newsworthy, but if some left-leaning org president stepped on a fly? Shit would be international news.

I guess it’s a matter of shock factor? Nobody’s really shocked that TPUSA is full of terrible people.

Turns out Florida International University Turning Point USA chapter has a rich history of being racist shits bag,

We shouldn’t hold these “children” responsible. All these “children” are college age and their tiny brains still need to develop.

Miami New Times did a fantastic job of doing an in-depth guide of of Dariel Gonzalez.

One of the biggest problems with racism/bigotry like this is that the average person sees it as a one way thing - whites being racist to others.

As you can see from some guy whose surname is Gonzales talking about Jews, that racism is everywhere.

I’ve heard Indians say racist shit against Chiinese people. I’ve heard Chinese people say racist shit against Jewish people. I’ve heard white people say racist shit against black people. I’ve heard black people say racist shit against Korean people. Etc, etc, etc…ad infinitum.

It’s not just one group or one race. Every culture has its bigots who think their culture is superior to all others and will diminish others because of it.

We all need to do better and hold everyone accountable for what they say.

White racists are the ones causing the most damage in America. They make the laws and are in authority positions.

When I got to college, I was surprised to discover that each Asian ethnic group was incredibly insular. Japanese, Koreans and Chinese did not interact, but rather had their own cliques, with no interest in expanding their social circle.

It’s not too surprising given the history between those nations and ethnic groups.

Fuck, I hate my people. Cubans in Miami are so fucking bigoted and racist. I left Florida 17 years ago and only return to see my parents.
