After 20-25 years, it’s more or less used for a spam pit and less important things now. No sense walking away from it when there’s no finances or other dangerous things attached

10 yo me on his way to include his day, month and year of birth in his reddit username that cannot be changed and to get enough karma on that account to not want to delete it.

I find it incredibly annoying that Google won’t let you merge or transfer purchases to a new account.

YES BITCH! I’m stuck using this ancient account I’d really rather not in order to access my purchases. Luckily most of the things I’ve bought are no longer available. However I did just buy premium for Boost for Lemmy… Fuck it. I’m buying it again.

Thank you for the reminder for me to switch over. I actually needed that.

It’s a screengrab from Star Trek: Lower Decks although it can be found in any of the newer episodes of the new Trek shows. They’re using it as an opening across all shows. A ship (changes depending on the show) flies around in space. It then zooms out and you realize the path the ship was taking makes the Starfleet Delta. Then the Star Trek text drops over the top. Pretty neato intro actually.

Here’s the link to the Strange New Worlds one. Lower Decks shows the ship from that show, the Cerritos. Discovery shows the USS Discovery and the newest season of Picard shows the USS Titan-A. There’s even a new retro version for the ‘very Short Treks’ theyve been putting up on youtube.

Here’s the full pic if you want it.

Animation works on my end. They do match real close. I am super impressed with the detail they did for all the intros. There’s even little easter eggs imbedded in some of them. Picard Season 3 is mostly the same but occasionally something small changes and you see another ship in the background or special effects added to the main logo. Lower Decks has added a nebula that looks like a giant Koala into their intro.

While it’s not quite the same, Google does allow you to stay signed into multiple accounts. Just click your profile photo in the upper-right and click “Add another account”. After signing into the other account, you can seamlessly switch between them. The same steps can also be used for any Google Android app.

If the server won’t take a 64-char pw with letters, numbers, and symbols then is it even worth using?

The instrumental version is fantastic there, though.

Friend got locked out of Instagram account because yahoo deactivated their email. Instagram flagged the email as inactive. After my friend forgot their password, Instagram wouldn’t send pw reset emails even after reactivating the account. They also has no direct customer support whatsoever, so that account was lost.

When I was in college I got an early invite to Gmail, and did the fistname.lastname address.

All my day jobs have also had the same format, as does my university faculty ID (I teach night classes).

It’s kinda handy that you just use my (unique) name and the organization to get in touch with me.

Though it’s super annoying on my phone’s autocomplete since the screen above the keyboard shows “firstname.lastname@…” 3 times and I don’t know which is which.

I do find that interesting all your jobs use the same name format. My jobs have all had different formats lol

One was first initial last name, one was last name first initial (same as my school), my current one is just first name which is cool because if there are any other people who come here later I will be the original one lol, etc

Also my second job had four people with the same name as me, but one of them was much older and died while I was still working there, then I left a year later so then they were down to two. lol

I still keep my Hotmail/Yahoo/etc., but I’ve gotten my name as a domain and use that for professional communication.

It has catch-all support, so whether you send an email to hi@name.com or “XxX_360noscopegamer_xXx@name.com”, I still receive it.

Wait, so you can just willy-nilly name emails for your domain for different online services and see who’s selling your data pretty easily then right?

I mean… who isn’t selling our data but still lol

Exactly and then you can block that one addressband you dont get spam anymore. You can make the addresses up as you go btw, it will receive every email sent to your domain anywaya

        • That’s actually really cool! I’ve been actively degoogling this year but my email is one of the last holdouts so I’ll have to look into this

Another advantage of having your own domain for email is that you can just pack your shit and move to greener pastures when your current email provider turns to shit. No need to change your email everywhere.

When I was like 11 I made two emails, one with a dumb name and another more professional one that’s just my name. I didn’t want to send emails to adults with the dumb name one because I didn’t want to explain it.

11 year old me was way too serious.
