    Let’s take a look…

    • The example picture for dressing “modestly” (what is it, the 1800s? is he scared because some absolute whore has dared to show her ankle?) shows a woman in a long, wool jacket, boots, thick-looking leggins… probably sensible clothing for cold-ish weather. Also, the thickest eye liner since queen Cleopatra.
    • Gentrification doesn’t fix anything, it just displaces
    • Every person I know married and had kids: eeeeeh… as someone who grew up in that time, no, not really, plenty of people didn’t, sounds like confirmation bias
    • Music was about joy? Man, I remember listening to the most vulgar political rap with my friends at the end of high school, also, wasn’t there a big phase of metalcore and electro-metal stuff around that time?
    • The drug epidemic is scarcely the result of music and fashion
    • I don’t know jack about art, tbh

      Music was about joy?

In fairness, I’m not sure those genres are “hipster”. Though Death Cab for Cutie is and most of their songs are depressing.

An unsurprisingly one sided perspective on gentrification with no attention given to the displacement and economic exclusion of those already living in those ‘ghettos’ and ‘hoods’.

Can communities built on a settler mindset ever reconcile their past and grow beyond it? Or will it always be ok as long as the people that do it have money and dress / act / talk the way some may like?

Good while post reeks of alt right incel bullshit. Basically celebrating trad wives/family and getting rid of “bad” races.

It’s 4chan, obviously there’s no consideration for how something negatively impacts minorities.

Like any group, some of them took it way too seriously or let the idea become their entire personality. Genuinely liking something quirky is different from “liking” it just to stand out.

If only gentrification worked like anon thinks it does lol. Not the making everything overpriced, clean new shithole buildings and still have crimeness that it is. Not to mention some of those neighborhoods were already peaceful in their own way.

The hipsters balnakanized and fragmented because we were forced to attempt to migrate to find reasonable housing prices and jobs.

    Yep, that’s right, blame capitalism.

Dude, we were high as shit and a lot of us were openly gay. Also only like the post irony music was happy and that was a response to just how fucking depressing indie music had been.

I’m a bit of a hipster myself (hair hanging down, jeans, an ankh around my neck, a Celtic tattoo on my butt, and I smoke a pipe), and I can only agree.

They could’ve deleted those first three lines and given a subjective opinion about hipsters, but then they wouldn’t have posted on 4chan.
