    Metro tunnel report.

It’s fast , really fast, it takes at least 30 minutes off my travel time from Footscray to the city.

Everything looks really clean and spacious. The escalators are high but there are lifts too of course.

In my case, late partner. We were 6 years old, and entered primary school at the same moment. Literally hand in hand at our parents insistence. We hated each other, and never failed to provoke each other during lessons. Secondary school was separate, and he developed a series of crushes on tall blonde anglos with money. After his marriage to a tall blonde anglo girl (also in the same primary school intake) failed, he spent maybe 7-8 years discovering that he needed to learn manners. Preferably good manners, but that took a bit longer. During that time I had a failed marriage with a marine biologist and some very low points in my life.

After that, we met up again and connected. 30+ years later I lost him to a drug-resistant golden staph infection during covid. Still miss the bastard. Even if I did need to teach him not to dictate to me IN MY OWN KITCHEN by pouring a panful of eggs & bacon over him in front of his kids. And he was an Essendon supporter - always a warning sign imo. But I rose to that challenge by embracing Carlton as my team of choice.

A group of us were meant to see a band together. Everyone else pulled out at the last minute except us two. It may have been a set up. Yadda yadda yadda. We’ve been together 30 years next week.

Ps. We knew each other before this but weren’t really friends.

Pretty sure I already told this one. Quick Tuesday after work drink from a Sat online message. I accused him of flirting with lampposts. He didn’t leave on Friday.

Known each other for years through mutual friends. One day I asked “so how’s Boyo doing?” to the friend and she set up a group dinner after which I thought he hated me. After some messaging and a bout of illness we got our shit together and met up for coffee in which I verbal vomited the shit show that was my life. Somehow he thought that was pretty cool. I think he’s pretty cool.

    So. Lesson learned.

If you go to the gym after 2 weeks off, and are not eating meat, you had better make sure you a shit load of good food afterwards, otherwise you wake up homicidal.

Oh yeah! I promised some ideas didn’t I? First get a good protein powder for smoothies after gym. Don’t really have a recommendation here though.

      Good protein options

      • can of chickpeas, drain and roast for 5/10 mins. Add a little bit of oil and any spices you want (I usually do s&p, paprika and a bit of chilli). This is a great snack or through rice etc
      • tofu. Buy the firm stuff and squeeze moisture out before you do anything with it. It also freezes well and goes firmer when defrosted. But it has no taste so marinade or spice it up like chicken. Bit of hoisin sauce, or honey and soy. Best cooked in oil on hot for crsipyness but under the griller is good too
      • buy some of the three or four bean mix. That, corn, tomato and some sweet chilli sauce is like the quickest salad ever.

If you make bolognaise then you can swap out mince for lentils. Use brown or red or a mix.

Derek Samo on YouTube has a bunch of good vegan stew recipes and tips. rainbow plant life is ok but sometimes she just has too many ingredients and I can’t be bothered.

Doona washed and dried. Food prepped so minimal cooking needed this week. Aircon cranked up now and time to flop.

What are we all up to today? I think I am gonna wash sheets and doona, and prep some food. A slightly slow but productive day hopefully. Thought about heading into the rally but I am not up for crowds.

So I went geocaching and did not find the cache after spending at least half an hour looking in this heat. My driver’s side door also only locks using the switch on the door, so it was unlocked the whole time. Woop woop. Crawling out of the passenger door is fun.

Will be back at that caching spot tomorrow to hopefully find the blasted thing. It’s a nano one, so very smol.

Edit: no way in hell will I be going into that inferno tomorrow. Maybe Wednesday
