Diosdado was able to get in power and then there was news that the CIA had landed in Venezuela with help from Delta Force units and were planning to kidnap Chavez, it seems like that plan failed because some CIA agents wanted to kill Chavez and blame it on the VZ opposition but some other CIA agents thought that would just futher radicalize the Bolivarian Revolution instead of causing a civil-war.
