The suspects were identified earlier this month as a 38-year-old man named Zheng and a 55-year-old woman named Wang, both from the Chinese autonomous region of Inner Mongolia.

So after all this time, the Mongols finally breached the wall…

Crossposted here because the tankie admins of lemmy.ml censored this comment and banned my lemmy.ml alt for “racism” because of it:

“Yeah, only the CCP is allowed to destroy China’s cultural heritage!”

At this point it’s probably better to move the larger default communities like World News, Technology, Memes, etc. to less extremist instances, because you never know what kinds of discussion the ideologues over there are censoring.

That’s a shame no matter what you think of the Chinese government. I’ll never be happy to see any piece of humanity’s history damaged or destroyed

Some people are willing to write off anything bad happening to China as something they deserve due to communism. I think one of humanity’s greatest achievements should be exempt from that

Not to worry, there’s still more than enough Great Wall of China to go around.

I don’t understand the picture in the article. They trot the suspects out in handcuffs for a posed photo-op and then blur their faces.

    That doesn’t make sense.

How deos the great wall affect wildlife in the region? Maybe retrofitted some openings isn’t a bad idea.

I think whatever wildlife was affected by it suffered their main disappointment a couple of thousand years ago.
