I find the over emphasis on having read and understood every bit of Capital to be unhelpful gatekeeping.
Most communists don’t need to know all the inner workings of how capitalism and economics work in order to be good communists. For 99% of workers anything more than “capitalists bad” and “One way out” is just gravy. If comrades spent as much time spreading those ideas as they do flagellating themselves trying to grasp the entirety of Capital we’d probably be further along.
I agree, but I also think that if we are asking which work of Marx is the most important, ultimately it is Capital. The ones that wield having read it or not like a club aren’t helpful, but the work itself absolutely is.
It’s easily the 3 volumes of Capital. Those are his masterworks, and they hold up brilliantly.
