Except it should be America lifting up America since no one else has that misconception.
A few years ago i read about a study asking germans who contributed the most to liberate the country from the nazis.
In the decades after the war it was clearly the soviets in more recent decades it shifted completly towards the usa
The U.S. is really good at propaganda. There’s lots of people who believe that the world would practically be falling apart without the U.S. interfering everywhere.
Frankly if Goebbels bore witness to the modern American propaganda machine, he would piss himself in awe. It’s a breathtakingly terrible implement of US policymakers.
I read an article a year or so ago about how Britain took about 46 trillion from India during the British east India company.
Such estimates are always difficult, but indisputably a massive amount of India’s wealth was stolen during colonial occupation.
People who note that Britain brought certain infrastructure improvements to the places it imperialized are not always incorrect - but are often eager to overlook just how lopsided the ledgers still are even with the most charitable interpretations of British investment levels.
The world has suffered immensely from imperialism - and honestly, the vast majority of the benefits of imperial plunder were not to Britain; neither its government nor its people, but to a few wealthy elite parasites at the top.
Funny how that policy of imperialism managed to endure anyway.
That’s like an overbearing spouse saying you wouldn’t be the person you are without me and I think that was the sentiment back then. Like The indigenous people of all the colonies who were stripped of their culture to be more civilized.
I have never seen anyone says or thinks that US did everything on their own during WWII. If enough people thinks this is the case, I weep for the education system and TikTokification of the mind.
It’s also worth noting that at the time, the region lacked the political stability that was a requirement for permanent membership.
That said, they certainly have it now and deserve permanent membership.
Along with other major significant military powers like, Germany, Poland, Indonesia, South Korea, Egypt, Brazil etc
They really should expand it and scrap the single vote veto. At least 3 members should be required for a veto.
