This is going to be the highlight of my eventual homestead. I really want to cultivate an ecosystem just to learn from it. My parks are full of named wildlife-pets and it’d be so nice to build a community like that with actual control over the design.

that’s cool. i’ve considered trying to build a pond but as I learned more about it, it’s really important to site a pond in a place where a pond could form naturally and the place I live is not it.
the canadian permaculture legacy channel is a good one, the guy has documented his whole pond/garden/food forest building program. his is much smaller than this, the whole parcel is maybe 5 acres and the pond is a small chunk of that. he’s got a natural spring so that makes it a lot easier.
