Their change logs are pretty opaque to lay-peoples like myself so I just watch the compatibility list:

It absolutely could be anything. Yet you omitted the description. It will forever remain a mystery.
I agree with your point of view: Posts about a software project should state what the project does, with exceptions when they’re very well known already.
ShadPS4 is a PlayStation 4 emulator. It’s becoming well known among enthusiasts who keep up with recent emulation news, but still far from a household word. For lack of a clear description (both here and on the web site), we might deduce it from the name, the topic of this community, and the FAQ.
It could also have been in the description. Just a simple, “PS4 emulator” would not have been too much trouble.
Also, formatting it as ShadPS4 would have been a slight improvement.
