Each of the volunteers was given two options: sign documents consenting to deportation, or remain in detention and appear before a tribunal. The FFC had encouraged some volunteers, if given the option, to agree to expedited deportation in order to restore access to communication—including the ability to speak freely and advocate for their fellow participants.

Greta Thunberg interviewed at Paris France airport, a few hours ago.

    Some notes

    • She points out that the sandwich video is an Israeli PR stunt.
    • All of the crew members were detained separately to prevent coordinated communication.
    • Greta says she is not disappointed that the ship wasn’t able to break the blockade, it shows Israel’s systematic war crimes. Israel is doing a live-streamed genocide.
    • Europe is complicit in Israel’s illegal kidnapping of the Madleen by remaining silent.
    • Israel asked crew members to sign papers saying that they had entered Israel illegally. Greta says she did not sign the papers.
    • Press asks whether the Madleen was a PR stunt. Greta again mentions the sandwiches Israeli PR stunt.
    • When asked about why the ship didn’t carry more aid, Greta says that their previous ship named ‘Conscious’ had been bombed twice and that evidence indicates it was Israel who bombed the ship.
    • The smaller ship was used because it’s all that Freedom Flotilla had left and their intention was to break the blockade on Gaza.
    • Greta says that attempts to break the blockade will continue but doesn’t specify if there will be another boat.
    • Says the crew was treated by IOF in a dehumanizing way, but not treated as badly as Palestinians
    • Asked about Trump saying that she has anger management problems. Greta replies “I think that the world need a lot more young angry women” (based)

I wonder how close Israel is allowed to get to foreign shores before a nation will do anything about it. They apparently have impunity to kidnap in international waters. Are they allowed to just head over to France and start taking people now? Will the whole world let Israel kidnap anyone and everyone from anywhere for any reason they want? Sure seems like it

well but then they’ve deported greta despite the fact that the swedish government already said they don’t care. maybe for her it’s the pr of the matter but i’m not sure.

also 2 of the 4 deportees are french, so i’m not very convinced that’s the reason. if anything, the french government is significantly more obligated to back up an mep than they are the deportees.

Right so they were asked separately and some of them gave different answers then? Weird question to ask. Why choose detained?

To be deported immediately, you had to sign some document stating and acknowledging that you entered Israel illegally. If you don’t sign the document, you get detained for 96 hours before deportation. At least that what I understand from the latest news, could be wrong.

Greta says she didn’t sign that but they deported her and a couple others immediately while detaining the others.
