Important note to clarify, it still says that the screen is VRR, but no longer mentions VRR support for external displays. This is something that they could very easily patch in support for, so it might be that this just isn’t ready for launch for whatever reason?
That or maybe they’re thinking of selling their own official Nintendo screen as the only compatible external screen? Wouldn’t put it past them.

Not if they think they have enough of a cult following to pull an Apple.
This might have something to do with the dock using USB-C in Display Port alternative mode, and then taking this signal and shoving it in a HDMI port going to the screen. Maybe something is lost in translation along the way.
Someone on Reddit mentioned that the Japanese website never mentioned VRR support when docked so it does seem like it was a mistranslation.
