Funny, everyone is reminded of different things and I wonder at the likely connections. It reminds me of Heavy Metal, based on the French art magazine of the same name.
All the artists/mags mentioned (Bakshi, Moebius (Arzach), Heavy Metal) were from the same era and had similar aesthetics. Moebius published in Heavy Metal too.
I used to run a D&D campaign that had giant rideable bats! This art is amazing.
