up-arrow I’ve used SAMHSA before to find a rehab, 2 times now and both times it helped me out greatly so I want to share this with the community for anyone who wants to make the plunge.

For those in the US with opiate problems, QuickMD may help in conjection with other self improvement activities. QuickMD is a cheap way to get prescribed Suboxone, a partial opiate activator while also blocking anything else from being absorbed by your opiate receptors. You have to be clean a bit before you take it otherwise it’ll throw you into precipitated withdrawal. If you are a serial relapser on opiates, this may be an alternative over a methadone clinic

SMART Recovery is a science-based, practical group support community for any recovery (not just alcohol). It is an excellent alternative for people like me that have issues with AA and other 12-Step programs (especially the god issue and many anti-science solution to alcohol/drug abuse. I’ve really enjoyed the meetings that I go to and love that they have practical tactics and strategies that you can employ that are a more useful way for me to combat urges and prevent relapse rather than the 12-Step rhetoric of “call your sponsor, pray or go to a meeting”, which I don’t find helpful at all.
