• Unfortunately, an appeal to the environment will never work with Smith’s voter base. It needs to be framed by their concerns: business, economy, and costs.

Oil is becoming less profitable, and the longer they stay focused on it, they fall further behind the rest of the energy industry. They were poised to be leaders, but they’re selling the future of their economy for a quick buck now.

Honestly that’s most voters, Smith’s are just particularly loud and loyal.

Yup. Lots of them are pissed to find out the pipeline Trudeau bought for them cost a shit ton more than we were told it would, but they still balk at renewables.

Make it make sense already. sigh

1300 votes. We were so close to a sane government.

Coming from the neighbouring SK dumpster fire, I think it helps to remember that most people aren’t defined by their political stance. While there are a few who definitely are, which only helps us to know who to avoid, most people can still be good neighbours and friends while our governments prefer to run our provinces into the ground.

Oh buddy I moved to AB from SK lmao. Yeah people are generally nice, just clueless when it comes to politics. I have a trans/gay friend who voted for Sask Party a couple years ago and when they told me I was like wtf. Worse yet it came out that their specific representative was very homophobic and transphobic…

        Before this person had voted.

I think some level of research should be essential before you vote, but there’s no way to enforce that. So I urge everybody I know to research before they vote so that they can make an informed decision.

I very much agree. Many people do little to no research on the candidates running prior to voting and just pick their favourite colour.

Yeah, but they do it because it gets them votes from said friends and neighbors. Too bad the only other stable government system is even worse.

Aren’t conservatives supposed to be, y’know, fiscally conservative? Why turn down a more affordable option for power generation?
