It’s about migrants. They are granted one year of asylum with free housing to determine if they want to naturalize or move to another nation. We have space around the nation to accommodate more, but all migrants are bused to sanctuary cities that are at or above cost capacity. With Federal support, we could properly support migrants in other cities and states, and properly allocate Federal funding.

Executive Orders can control the border, but not immigration reform. Biden’s options are refusing entry, detainment, or accepting more migrants than sanctuary cities will accept.

Congress needs to pass updated and streamlined immigration reform. The last time Congress passed a full overhaul of immigration was in 1986. The act passed in 2013 when Democrats had control of the House and Senate was tied to border security, and amended previous acts.

There’s a bill currently in the House with 118 Democratic cosponsors.

      https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/3194

Immigration reform is the solution to mitigating our birth rate decline. Not forcing women to have unwanted children.

This is expected to hurt him with his base while Republicans call the measure fake news to cover up the 10,000 trans mules Biden ordered from Bolivia to sway the election that they heard from newsOAANmax.

The one remaining independent voter decided on Thursday to sit this one out since: “Man. I don’t know what the heck is going on and everytime I pick a side, half the country yells at me.”

I remember folks were arguing dems were only playing along with the anti-immigration parts of that bill as a bargaining chip to send aid to ukraine. Then that version of the bill died off.

So they just implement the anti-immigration parts on their own i guess.

Obama deported more illegal immigrants than George W Bush and Donald Trump combined. Biden deported more illegals in his first 18 months than Trump did during his entire term.

Democrats being “weak on immigration” is nothing more than a racist dog whistle to stir up GOP voters.

Nobody wants illegal immigrants pouring over the border. That being said, some of us are a lot more understanding about it than others, because there would be a lot fewer people trying to cross if the CIA didn’t spend the last 60 years deliberately destabilizing South American governments. Fortunately, that’s not how most illegals get here. Most of them just overstay their visa after it expires. Which means that most of the time, deporting illegals involved lots of boring paperwork and happens one person at a time. There’s no drama in it, so it doesn’t really make the news like immigrants at the border do.

Democrats understand that simple fact. Republicans don’t.

The deportation numbers are readily available on Wikipedia and official government websites. I tend to shy away from recommending news articles whenever there is an opportunity to go directly to the data itself. It takes a little more work but you avoid any potential spin or bias.

The reason people cross illegally is we don’t let refugees in legally.

The mass of innocent people, provides cover for the less than innocent. And they turn people into mules when they do cross, after charging them for it.

That’s not even getting into the rampant organ harvesting that’s happening to the people waiting to cross.

And like you said, Dems haven’t been doing the right thing for decades now.

How are we better than Republicans if we let this horrible shit happen just because the other team is worse?

Why not just run someone with some fucking empathy?

Only if you ignore history and the fact the moderate wing of the Dem party is just very loud, very small, and very wealthy.

They’ve got money behind them for the same reason they don’t have voters behind them.

And they still have to cheat to win the primary, and voting for them because they’re not Republicans doesn’t fix anything.

The people paying both parties have already won by then.

Republicans support horrible shit because they think Dems are worse, Dems support horrible shit because they think (correctly) that they’ll be even worse…

We still end up with horrible shit. And that’s why on a busy election year, were lucky to crack 75% turnout most years 66%.

We’re leaving an insane amount of votes on the table, because the people running the DNC care more about money than votes. Then try to use the money to get votes.

The money is just a middle step we only need when we have an unpopular candidate. We can just fucking skip it, along with all the horrible shit Dem voters don’t even want.

But it’ll never change as long as at the end of the day we hold our noses, because why would they change when it keeps working?

Protests don’t work, because Biden and his admin refuse to listen to anyone under 60, despite most of them being hardcore trump supporters who would never vote D.

He’s running off the Dem base in the senile hopes republicans will vote D if Biden does some of the horrible shit trump did. Or even worse, he legitimately thinks these are good moves or what his voters want. There’s no good option for why he keeps doing this shit.

They’re never gonna vote D just because Biden acts more conservative though. Because trump is always going to take it further. Following him makes no logical sense except that’s where the donations are

Immigration is more of a cultural, identity issue than just an economic issue.

Immigration has been a chronic issue in the USA going back centuries eg discrimination against Chinese railroad workers, Irish and Italian immigrants, restrictions on immigration in the mid-1920s, forced deportation of U.S. citizens of Mexican origin in the 1930s, antisemitism and discrimination against Jewish immigrants.

Whites are projected to be less than 50% of the population in a generation and that will make immigration issue even more challenging to solve.

We are currently working under 50 year old laws which are not up to the current high migration task. Obviously, Republicans don’t want to solve this issue, they want to use it as a wedge. So, let’s see what Joe’s got. But, it’s an executive order and only a bandaid.

When people come in to claim asylum, yeah, that’s part of the process.

We intentionally made it so they had to cross the border to claim asylum, take them into custody, arrest and deport them if they have criminal records, then release the others following the process for asylum.

10,337 arrested year to date, compared to 15,267 in all of 2023, 12,028 in all of 2022, and 10,763 in 2021.

How does that compare to the Trump years?

                2017 - 8,531
                2018 - 6,698
                2019 - 4,269
                2020 - 2,438

No, we didnt make so they had to cross the border to claim asylum, theyre supposed to go to a port of entry.

Illegally immigrating is a seperate action from claiming asylum, and they set it up so that committing crimes doesnt mean deportation.

The executive action is likely to allow US officials to shut off asylum requests once a daily threshold is met, allowing border officials to limit the amount of migrant arrivals, according to media.

I know what’ll curb illegal border crossings when there’s illegal border crossings due to our massive backlog…

We’ll just let less people thru legally!
