De Niro, who has been a frequent critic of Trump through the years, had been scheduled to receive the NAB award, its highest individual honor, “in recognition of charitable work and public service.”

“I don’t mean to scare you. No no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss away these freedoms that we take for granted, and elections, forget about it … He will never leave,” De Niro said.

'Seems like De Niro is still doing public service with these comments though.

A “bipartisan” group doing the most partisan thing they could to punish someone with opposing views.

It is particularly weird to claim to be bipartisan after this move. I feel like if they claimed to be nonpartisan, that could make some sense.

This event is proudly bipartisan, uniting those from across the political spectrum to celebrate the impactful work of local broadcasters and our partners

This makes me wonder what would shake the media out of their business-as-usual attitude. Even if the Republican party didn’t represent an existential threat to democracy in this country, the unprecedented conviction by a jury of a former president on 34 out of 34 felony counts seems newsworthy enough to warrant taking a stand on the side of “fuck that guy”.

It’s a shame that the NAB have decided to do this. But oh well, there’s more than one award in the world.

I would like to present Robert DeNiro with the Balls Of Steel award for being a decent person, for taking a stand, and for kicking serious ass. Respect.

So, the NAB can tell people what they can of cannot say? Was Biden there? Was it a campaign rally? Sounded more like a public service announcement.
