How does one learn on it? I sometimes have similar folder/file names for a new version and old version. And after 3 versions, it becomes tricky.
Any tutorials or vids on the net on best practices?

Or is it just something I should start focusing on and learn by doing?

I use date folders for archives, and git repos for basically everything else that needs file versioning.

If you’re dealing with a ton of binary data, like images and music, make sure to use the metadata. Images can also be stored using something like Immich if you’re into self hosting.

Other than that, keep your files segregated by type. Treat each directory layer like a number in the dewy decimal system. And give your files immediately descriptive names that can be easily searched (e.g “lighthouse_myrtle-beach_june_2022.jpg” or {subject}{location}{date})
