Not sure why it was removed, as the other images on lemmy.today’s pict-rs seem to still be up. Size, maybe? Moved it to catbox.moe and updated the submitted link.
EDIT: Hmm. Apparently, for some reason, even if I link to an off-site copy, lemmy.today tries to proxy it, submits a modified URL proxied through lemmy.today, and then fails to serve it. I’ll re-submit it in a new post using PieFed.
EDIT3: If the aim is to try to keep users from deep-linking to images hosted elsewhere, I don’t think that this is a good idea for Lemmy to do, at least not if the instance isn’t going to be willing to serve the image itself.
