If the IDF was similar to the Wehrmacht, there would be no population left in Gaza. We wouldn’t see mass arrests but mass executions. Israeli peace protestors would disappear not rally in front of detention centers. Israeli Arabs would be rounded up and murdered.
So yeah, equating Israel and Nazi Germany is indeed denying the holocaust because it’s saying the Third Reich wasn’t that bad.
The holocaust wasn’t just defined by degree, it was also defined by callous dehumanization.
Right now, Israeli political leaders are arguing that their soldiers didn’t commit rape because only humans can be raped. That, to most people, is a Nazi level of dehumanization. Additionally, The imposed famine and the destruction of water infrastructure and hospitals will cause mass death that puts this in the ballpark of, but not exactly equalling, the holocaust.
Of course current events don’t mirror Nazi Germany exactly- but the suffering and death evoke the Holocaust. It’s a historical horror. If you don’t find the comparison helpful, that’s a valid opinion, but I think calling it denial is unfounded.
