The Bible specifically allows killing as an act of war and considers it different from murder. The protagonists of the book also steal stuff all the time.

These commandments are for controlling behavior inside a society, not outside of it.

Trump is a senile and a deeply unserious person. His existence makes me believe that souls might exist because he very much seems like a person without one. He doesn’t think about his actions deeply which is why I believe that if he suddenly turned religious, I don’t think much would change.

I think he’s referring to the difference of descriptive vs prescriptive. I mean, some english words and concepts just become standard without anyone trying to make them that.

Terms like cisgender or “they” as a pronoun on identical level to “he” and “she” is an example of trying to be prescriptive. You would never have to correct people with native level language skills on the correct use of these words if they weren’t.

That’s not quite how a natural language like English works. There’s a bunch of mess and idioms and “technically correct” is almost never how things start to get used in real life. Thus often it happens that whatever is the majority becomes the default, like for instance cisgender is a concept that almost never has to be used because 99% of people are cisgender. Not that it’s not a valid term, it’s just a term that’s almost universally redundant.

Sure, of course, and not liking things can be done without psychoanalyzing the author and it does not require feeling superior to them or ridiculing them.

Both the hardware and software (fedora 42 running cosmic desktop) are kinda cutting edge, so I think an honest crashing bug is more likely.

Fun coincidence, when I was about to write a supporting comment to this thread, my Fedora 42 running on X1 Carbon hard froze without any apparent reason and I had to hard reboot it.

For me Linux surpassed the Windows desktop experience in 1996 and even though Windows 2000 was a pretty good upgrade, I don’t think it has surpassed desktop Linux yet. Windows 10 was not bad either, but now that has gone mostly downhill whereas Linux has merely plateaud at worst or has been improving slowly at best.

If you’re not humblebragging, perhaps you oughta get a Linux-preinstalled laptop like System76.
