Vampire: The masquerade@ttrpg.network•Esoteric Lore Aficionado Reacts to Vampire 6 Playtest | TheBurgerkrieg
21·12 天前Well… I haven’t finished reading the playtest books, and I haven’t yet watched the video. But I do have opinions already 😅. So far, I think they’re trying to… I’m not gonna say “dumb it down”, but rather… making it more comfortable for players used to D&D 5E and more narrative games like most of the PbtA family.
I tried “buying” the whole bundle at DTRPG but I can’t see anything added to Roll20 nor Demiplane.
Anyone else experiencing this? Maybe it just takes some time?
I do have the proper accounts linked.

1·1 个月前I don’t know… seeing how they’re having financial problems, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
Thanks!
It’s also fun to draw them.
Never considered myself good at drawing, so I imitate a lot. And I think my skills are getting better (or at least less bad XD).
I assume board games are not an option? I’ve played Salem with probably 10 players and it’s quite fun. It will take much less than 6 hours though.
But I don’t want to leave just challenging the question without suggestions, so I’ll ramble on…
I’m thinking very quick character creation (if anything because I have players who are unable to take less than an hour doing so), perhaps something like Mothership or pretty much any PbtA. Or pregens.
Spotlight time will be an issue, so a something with very fast combat mechanics should be very important.
I’m pondering if it’s worth a shot trying something like Dread, but I’m not sure if 6 hours is too long for a game like Dread.
I’m curious: do the 12 of you (+GM) usually play all at the same time?

Yeah. Very well summarized.
Perhaps I’d also add that the advancement is earned with blood and sweat. 😅
I suppose YMMV, but to me it’s central. You see, the Hunter becomes a hunter because she heard a higher calling, and believing in it is what keeps it going.
You can rename Conviction to Faith, and it probably shows what I’m hinting at. That faith can get you out of trouble (supernaturally so) but it’s also precious. You’re still human, flimsy and prone to errors, susceptible to doubt.
And you’re way out of your league. All the time.
In oWoD’s Hunter: The Reckoning, you can’t advance your Edges (supernatural abilities) with XP.
To do so, you have to gamble Conviction during the session, while using said Edges (those Conviction points gambled add dice to your pool, ideally improving your odds).
If you succeed at the task, you gain Virtues (with which you can later buy points in Edges).
if you fail the task, you lose Conviction points. If you run out of Conviction, you lose your ability to use Edges at all until you rest/meditate/recover for a full week.
Not sure if it qualifies as “conceptual” or non-mechanical to you. But I love it.

2·1 年前I sort of became lost with Stellagama’s offerings after the Cepheus family. 😅
Anyway, Quantum does ring a bell, but Quantum Dark didn’t.
Edit: turns out I do own the base Quantum PDF. That’s why it rung a bell, I guess.

2·1 年前Hadn’t heard of this one.
I don’t think you meant something like this, but I couldn’t not do it 🙃:

Oooh. TIL.
Ah, I assume you missed it. Last month’s Humble Bundle did include Cyberpunk Red.

It was kinda pricey, though.

4·1 年前Cool. Hadn’t even heard of that one.
Gave it a quick glance… apparently it doesn’t “break character” absolutely anywhere.
I guess only Dyson and Schley are widely known. But do check them out.

Ok. I finished reading the material and I finished watching the video.
He’s right.
I must say that I’m more optimistic than him, but I can’t argue with what he says.
I’m not worried about the diablerie thing, because it’s extremely easy to fix. I’m personally more worried about vitae being both blood and health. As a player (who never jumped on the V5 bus), I’ve been stripped of the ability to choose whether to stay bruised or risking hunger. And that’s hard to fix, because it permeates everything else: the cost of activating powers, combat, the success target on the dice, etc.
