1·2 years agoI’ve been using GrandPerspective since I worked at an Apple store in 2008. Highly recommend.
I highly recommend people use docker for anything they would use Homebrew for. Homebrew is fragile and breaks often. Obviously I understand the appeal, but it isn’t worth the heartburn.
Really simple - Plex. I would be happy simply consuming my media on a big screen. I am very curious to see how the image fidelity is, if there is any chromatic aberration, how clear text is, and how convincing it is. I tried bigscreen on oculus and was not impressed at all. The font scaling combined with the display and lens quality made it unusable.
I had a home built NAS running first FreeNAS and then Ubuntu, but eventually switched to a Synology which I am very happy with. Saturates my 10gb network and is super easy to manage and set up stuff like network time machine volumes.
