Went from dual-booting Linux Mint and Windows to completely removing Windows and switching to Arch.

A lot of FOSS apps come with an ‘export’ or ‘backup’ options. I have a folder called Backup where I keep any app backup I need and use Syncthing to sync the backup folder to my PC. I also use Syncthing to sync my media folders and everything else to my PC.
Customization and no bloatware. I also love tinkering and finding problems to solve, so Arch was the distro I went with.

2·3 months agoThe truth is, if it wasn’t for data collection, these phones would be more expensive than this. So yeah, they are cheap compared to their price if companies didn’t collect user data.

171·3 months agoBig companies sell their expensive phones for cheap because they’ll get their money selling your data and showing you ads. A phone like this won’t get any money out of you other than the money you give when buying the phone. So it makes sense that it’s pricey.
Thanks for the link. I just made the switch to CoMaps because I’m tired of enshittification.
I just ran the two apps side-by-side and barely found any differences other than some subtle UI changes. How exactly is it different? And how is Organic Maps being enshittified?

1401·4 months agoIt’s Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp for me. I ditched the Facebook app a long time ago, but Messenger and Whatsapp remain on my device because no one wants to leave them. I try to keep my chats there as superficial as possible.
Also, this is my first comment ever on Lemmy, so hi everyone!

Art in general is about showing your personality and how you see the world. AI only follows instructions and tries to do everything so perfectly that it becomes life-less.
