Just get another masterlock and smash them together.

Kinda off topic but I stopped listening to Better Offline on Spotify because it’s by far the most ad saturated podcast there (edit: of those I listen to).

Yeah, imagine if you let your gasoline powered lawnmover just run around in your yard just to see what would happen and you just left it for a couple of days in the anticipation that eventually your entire lawn was cut only to find that it also ran over some kid. The lesson from that wouldn’t be that your lawnmover is just too good.

Yeah, that might have been the goal, but they can’t state that publicly. Instead “we just didn’t pay attention to what it was doing and let it spend thousands of dollars of compute that ended up in a crime”. That’s not the defense that they think it is.

The entire huggingface thing infuriates me because it was basically negligent incompetence that they try to use as marketing.
Edit: also it hallucinated and justified its hallucination. It’s clear example of why agentic AI is a bad idea. It’s not “oh this tech is soooo powerfull”.
Yes, most Norwegians loved the guy regardless of what they think about the monarchy.
Poverty, homelessness and hunger are products of our economic system. It doesn’t have to exist, but in any other system you can’t own yacths with a helicopter pad or child sexual abuse islands.

The article implies it as well. This article says it is as well: https://www.ucsf.edu/news/2019/05/414326/alzheimers-disease-double-prion-disorder-study-shows

Smoking is a significant risk factor for Alzheimer’s so if nicotine itself helps then it’s definitely not by smoking.

Yeah, it’s probably not a very profitable service, if at all.
Maybe loggers just need a service pistol.

I mentioned it somewhere else, but HDMI can carry an ethernet signal. They could potentially in the future show ads without having to deal with the OS at all. Of course you can just disable the network but most people won’t know how.

HDMI can have ethernet as well, though I’m not sure how common (if at all) it is to route this through a normal video card. That might change if LG asks Asus nicely.

“Ads and OSes could one day help drive down the price of monitors, as they did TVs.” - Don’t buy into this. Ads don’t meaningfully affect the price of anything. It’s just free money for the company and they can charge extra as a “no ads fee” to the people that don’t want them. They’re not getting hundreds of dollars per person.

It’s an oligopoly. They do this because they think that prople can’t go to a competitor because Samsung is doing the same thing. The people that’s supposed to keep this from happening hasn’t been doing their job.

The fact that it improves safety is a claim that can easily be challenged as recently it seems to have put people in harms way. Texas police used it to stalk a woman across state lines to find out if she got an abortion elsewhere.

Insurance in general should be a public aervice rather than private enterprise and it should not be used for medical care at all.
It’s bash. Everyone is expecting nightmare code, and that’s why it’s fun!
