I recently had to configure an older Thinkpad X1 Carbon G8 for my little brother. It’s only got 8GB of RAM unfortunately and he needs Windows.

So I installed Windows 11 IoT LTSC like I usually do, installed all necessary drivers and manually deactivated services that don’t need to run. It still uses 3GB of RAM while idling.

My 2-year-old daily driver Manjaro install uses half of that, and that’s on a system with 32GB RAM where Windows would almost certainly use more just because there’s more

Axing Holden and more or less killing off domestic manufacturing (Ford did the same to be fair).

They inadvertently killed off the Australian ute as well, as Holden and Ford were the only ones still making those. Now all that remains are giant American pick-ups.

I love the C5 myself; might just be nostalgia from playing Ford vs. Chevy back in the day. It still looks really slick, though.

I think the C8 just looks wrong; partly because it’s mid-engined. I never had the opportunity to drive either of them though.

Corvettes always felt to me like simple and affordable sports cars for the masses; the C7 felt more like an evolution in that sense. The C8 is too fancy and sophisticated if that makes sense.

Wow, that sucks. I don’t even know if you could get your money back for the CPU in that case, as the seller could just claim it wasn’t him. Doesn’t sound like Riot is being that cooperative in such cases either.

I’ve recently been to Five Guys for the first time and holy fuck, it was so much better than anything I’ve ever eaten at McDanooj. I’d say it’s about as good as fast food can get even.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s still slop, but it’s damn good slop.

I think they’re just trying to make LLMs sound more powerful and cool than they are. Sort of a last desperate attempt to sell it to you.
