I know on some of the more modern intel CPU’s they run something like a big.little system, where there’s a number of “performance” cores and some “efficiency” cores. Often it’s just the performance cores that will have hyperthreading, leading to a whacky thread count compared to physical cores.

Typically in a metroidvania you’ll be using the new abilities you’ve unlocked to access new areas, each one being something of a puzzle or introducing new mechanics to the player, so it’s rarely just a walking simulator.

Also I think that “quiet time” is an integeral part of good game design, even in something like a shmup there’s enemy and projectile patterns that are so trivial they’re essentially inconsequential. Although the paradigms regarding what works across genres are obviously quite different.

Good art is timeless

I’ve finally gotten around to playing Control, I’m maybe half way through and so far it has not disappointed

How much do to pay for electricity? I’m running an I5-3470 and it costs about $17.50 USD/month, at $0.23 per kwh, the stack of 3.5" HDD’s pushes up the power consumption a fair bit though

It’ll be very interesting to see the longevity of those new chinese cars. They certainly have saturated the market, and by all accounts appear to be reasonably good value, but who knows what their long-term reliability will be like
