11·1 day agoIt is rather difficult to write about political satire these days. Perhaps there is an audience for fictional news where everything is basically a utopia. Headlines like “Fossil fuel end complete, planet in remission” or “Universal healthcare announced in USA, basic income next week” or “Successful purge of billionaires creates peace on earth overnight”
We should sample the algae bloom in that pool and look for intelligent life.

They’re open until 1:30. There’s one across the street. I hear revving engines of retard magats all night long in the drive through.
They actually do pay their employees $20/hr in my area. Which is above minimum wage and could buy a one bedroom apartment comfortably (~$1200+). That’s 41,600 USD per year based on no vacation or sick days and 40 hours per week. So let’s say a generous 35,000 after taxes. If two people are working there, that’s 70k, and probably enough to afford a two bedroom apartment. Maybe enough to raise a single kid if they don’t require childcare because they have a relative or community center for free or cheap.
So, basic income for living? Yes. Kids… probably not for a single parent. House—never (but that’s a different conversation)
Coincidentally, I’ve seen every one of those and eagerly anticipate the next installment, which is 70-Up, the last one they will be making. It’s a fascinating series, and I wish there were more of these.
Guacamole is fine to ingest, unlike toilet cleaner. But guacamole won’t cure autism, so clearly we should try toilet cleaner.
