    as others have said: France.

I assume because it’s not Five Eyes, no idea the details on their privacy laws but suffice to say yes, I’m sure the government could take it down if they so desired.

Imagine being France and getting left out of the cool kid spying club in favor of New Zealand. Fucking New Zealand gets treated as equal with the UK, US, Australia, Canada. But not France. Honestly pretty funny.

De Gaulle just squirmed down in hell at the insinuation that they should be sharing secrets with the anglos.

Apparently Sarkozy tried during the obama admin, but the US wouldn’t sign a “no-spy” agreement as part of it like they did with the other 4, so it was dropped

Of course. It’s like the circles of hell. The inner most ring is reserved for the worst of humanity- the Anglos (majority nations). Those disgusting Franks are in the next level with the swarthy Germanics (eww). Kinda funny actually since France has certainly “earned” its top-tier inner circle of Hell for imperialism prize. But got denied. Snubbed by the Anglos again. Hate to see inner-whites ethnic disputes continuing.

(This is all joking in case anyone wants to get butthurt over mocking white ethnic groups. Well, part of it’s real. Whatever)

Greetings fellow Hexabear comrades, I’ve recently come into possession of a large quantity of C4 diverted from the Ukraine war. I’m willing to sell it to you on an incredible discount since I very much sympathize with your woke and very righteous far left liberal agenda. Just promise me you’ll use it to finally hit the oil company executives where they live and it’s all yours, my friends.

All you need to do is let me know the address of your headquarters where you keep your servers, I’ll meet your head administrators there to make the exchange tomorrow afternoon. Actually, I’d like to request the entire Hexabear moderation team attend this meeting as well. I’d love to meet all of my new comrades in arms for our righteous offensive on the American way, I have no doubt that together we will catalyze the revolution!

It’s so generous of you to come to us. We can meet at 85 Albert Embankment, Vauxhall, London. Say you’ve got an appointment with “Richard”.

real question, why don’t people who host politically sensitive stuff host from vietnam? Wouldn’t it be kind of safe to assume they don’t have a security agreement with the 200-eyes or whatever?

Or China, or Cuba or Laos or the DPRK 🤷🏽‍♂️

I guess my thinking is that Vietnam is not under blockade or sanction like the DPRK or Cuba… China is being targeted by the US and also under some sanction (I would expect more), and Laos may not have as much internet infrastructure as it has had less development comparatively

The real :sicko-hexbear: Hexbear hosting is in the :sicko-hexbear-crowd: friends we made along the way :hexbear-specter:

  • I think a proper answer to this question would involve a detailed outline of Hexbear’s entire threat model. Would be a more appropriate briefing to get for the folks doing devops in an encrypted matrix chat, not just a post.

Could the government of that country take Hexbear down, if so it pleases?

There are likely several jurisdictions that could take down any given website. I don’t think we’re in the realm of running nested VM’s, proxies, and ever-changing URLs to make censorship more difficult. It’s probably just running on a rack mount somewhere.
